I'm Tanya Hemmen, founder of Penrose Valley Bookkeeping and a firm believer that small businesses deserve trustworthy, personalized support—without the cost or complexity of a full-time accountant.
My journey into bookkeeping wasn’t conventional, but it was intentional. After working in private industry accounting, I took a step back to focus on raising and homeschooling our five children on our family’s hobby farm. Years later, I began helping a local business with its books just a few hours a week. That small start revealed a big need: many business owners were struggling to keep up with their finances, and I knew I could help.
In 2018, I launched Penrose Valley Bookkeeping to offer simple, secure, and proactive bookkeeping solutions tailored to each client’s unique needs. Since then, I’ve grown the business slowly and intentionally—adding my team member Corrie and serving around 20 clients across different industries.
What sets us apart is our commitment to clarity, integrity, and relationships. We don’t just balance your books—we partner with you to reduce stress, stay compliant, and make confident financial decisions. We use modern tools, internal checks and balances, and offer ongoing support to ensure your business is always in good hands.
Outside of work, I’m blessed to enjoy a rich family life with my husband of 31 years. Three of our children are now married, one is still at home, and one has passed into eternity. We love spending time together hiking, camping, biking, and exploring wherever life takes us.

Corrie has been a valued part of the Penrose Valley Bookkeeping team since 2022. She first began working behind the scenes, learning our systems and getting to know our clients with care and attention to detail. She brings both professional experience and a heart for serving others—making her a perfect fit for our team.
Originally from the Dixon area, Corrie spent nearly 15 years at HALO Branded Solutions, where she managed the Order Processing and Billing departments for a national promotional products distributor. Her background in operations and invoicing gave her a strong foundation in accuracy, organization, and client service.
Corrie and her husband Kent have been married for 26 years and have four children. As a dedicated homeschool parent and long-time leader of a local homeschool co-op, Corrie is no stranger to juggling responsibilities and staying organized—skills that translate beautifully into her bookkeeping work.
She’s passionate about supporting small businesses and helping bring clarity to their financial picture. We’re thrilled to have her on the team.
